Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She is the youngest female and the first to receive an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. During the first few years of her life she was split her time between London New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. In Encinitas CA in 1999 she received an honorary high school degree. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman but she has a very impressive career in music and performance. She has been accompanying her father on stage for several years. She released her debut solo album Anourag in 1998. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. Because she has performed on many of the biggest stages around all over the globe, her stage career has been expansive. Anoushka isn't just a musician. Bapi the The Love of My Live, a biographical picture dedicating to her dad Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In 2003 she starred as an Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and there will be many more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi then moving to California where she attended the high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday, Anoushka made her debut as a sitar player before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences by accompanying her dad on his world tour. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts in addition to recording together with George Harrison. Her talent and musicality was acknowledged by the British parliament as the best of the best in Asian Arts.
